Configure License Server
When you work with floating licenses, you generally have an external server with all the floating licenses to use. To configure a server:
- Open Thermo Scientific License Manager.
- If you have not activated any product, Thermo Scientific License Manager indicates that no product is activated on your computer.
- If you already have one or more products activated on your computer, Thermo Scientific License Manager lists the activated products. From the Server tab, click Add Server to continue.
- In the License server display, enter the server name (or its IP address) followed by a port if there is a specific one (if not specified, the default port range is 27000-27009):
-
Click Save to add the server to the list of available sources to search for licenses.
If TLM can reach the server, the available features display in the Server Licenses tab. You can click Refresh to update the displayed information, including server status, available licenses, and tokens.
-
(Optional) If TLM can not reach the server, the Floating server not alive dialog displays. This dialog provides information about the server connection error and offers suggestions to resolve it.
Click Add license(s) to continue, then click License server.
<server_name|IP>:<port>
See Find Server Name and Port for more information.
Select to Change the server configuration or Save anyway, despite the "Not Alive" status.
Note: If the license server status is not alive, no licenses display in the Server licenses tab.
Additional Actions
In the Server tab:
- Click Disconnect next to the license server name to deactivate it.
- Click Edit next to the license server name to change its settings.
Note: for Linux users: to take your license settings into account, make sure you start the product from a new terminal after saving your license server configuration.
